SPF (Sender Policy Framework) has been around for many, many years – dating all the way back to 1997. However, there are still multiple challenges with SPF’s feedback and it’s often misunderstood.
dmarcian states that SPF lacks feedback because people who generally deploy it have very little information from the outside world while doing so. SPF records have to be constructed and maintained using data from an administrators knowledge. The other main issue with SPF is how it works and what it checks in an email is often misunderstood. This confusion has led articles to be published that provide incorrect guidance to non-technical people who were just trying to deploy SFP.
